A cask, held in your name. In oak, in bond, in good company.
Golden Casks is a quiet house for heritage whisky, tequila and rum casks. We hold them in your name, in bonded warehouses, with full documentation and an independent valuation each year. Before you take one on, we would rather you understood exactly what you are holding.
How ownership actually holds together.
Most people who buy a cask never see how the ownership works. Here is the whole of it, plainly.
-
Title, in your name.
A delivery order issued in your name by the warehouse keeper is what makes the cask yours. Without one, you hold a contract, not a cask. We issue it in your name.
-
Bonded and duty-deferred.
Casks are held in third-party bonded warehouses: HMRC-bonded in Scotland, CRT-tracked in Jalisco, and licensed bonded facilities across the Caribbean. The spirit matures in bond, and duty and tax fall due only on withdrawal.
-
Insured to current value.
Each cask is insured against fire, theft and warehouse loss, valued to current market rather than to what was originally paid.
-
The angel's share.
Around two percent of a cask evaporates each year, nearer one and a half percent for a sherry butt. The volume quietly diminishes as the spirit ages.
-
Storage and care.
Warehousing, insurance and valuation carry an annual cost. We itemise it. You should never have to guess what you are paying for.
-
Exit, on your terms.
Bottle under private label, sell at maturity, trade on the secondary market, or simply hold. None of these is guaranteed to profit. What a cask is worth depends on demand for the distillery, the spirit, and the wider market.
Questions worth asking, of us or of anyone.
Whether you take a cask on with this house or another, these are the checks that matter.
- Is there a delivery order in your name, from a named, bonded warehouse keeper?
- Is the cask clearly identified: cask number, fill date, distillery, and a recent regauge?
- Is the price shown against a sensible trade level, with every cost itemised rather than folded into a single figure?
- Is it insured to current value, and is it clear who bears any loss from leakage or damage?
- Can ownership and provenance be verified independently?
If a seller cannot answer these plainly, that is itself the answer.
A patient cellar, kept by hand.
Golden Casks is a trading name of The Whisky Cask Club Pte. Ltd., registered with ACRA in Singapore since 2016 (UEN 202215310M), at 206A Telok Ayer Street. We hold more than 9,400 casks under custody across five bonded cellars, drawn from over 300 distilleries. Every cask is held in the custodian's name, in a third-party bonded warehouse, independently valued each year by recognised cask specialists, and insured end to end. We accept new custodians by introduction and conversation, not by volume.

What you should know before you hold a cask.
Heritage casks are tangible assets. They are not financial instruments, shares, or securities, and cask ownership is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. It is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme or the Financial Ombudsman Service. Casks are illiquid: a sale can take time and is not assured at any particular price. Value can fall as well as rise, and depends on demand for the distillery, the spirit, and the wider market. Storage, insurance and valuation carry an annual cost. Whisky and other spirits casks may be treated as wasting assets for tax, and treatment depends on your own circumstances. Nothing on this site is financial, tax, or legal advice. You should take independent advice before committing capital.
